"Rising Sun" is an all-star charity album created by Candi in order to raise money for Japan, following the natural disasters that occured in the country. album is due to be released April 11, 2011.

The ideas for the album was conceived by British pop singer Candi, who recruited talents for the album, and produced the majority of the album. She asked each act to provide a song that would have never been heard by the public before.

13 acts appear on the single, with well established artists such as Alesha, Ben Johnston, Syd Wolfe, 4tune and Izzy as well as newer talent such as boyband Dante and Blonde Ambition. The album was released on 11 April, 2011 with all proceeds going to Japan. Candi's father aided the project financially. The album charted at #1.

Background[edit | edit source]

On March 11, 2011, Japan suffered the strongest earthquake in its recorded history. It had a magnitude of 9.0 and was aggravated by a tsunami, affecting the northeast area of Honshu, including Tokyo.

When Candi first learnt of the news, she was shocked by what she saw. Having lived a very perfect life, she felt she wanted to give something back, and with the help of 4tune they managed to get together some of the biggest names in music to offer a track for the album.

This is the first "various artists" release since SAVE URAPS 2 years prior in 2009.

The album was distributed through Candi's label Blacklight Records and was funded by Candi's father's label Daddy's Records.

The album features a wide range of genres, due to consisting of such a wide variety of acts. It is also rumoured that several acts were featured on the album due to favouritism by Candi, such as Blonde Ambition (Candi's best friend) and Dante (Candi's boyfriend Callum Andrews is in the band).

All of the acts who feature on the album have reached the top 10 at least once within their career. At the time of its charting, 9 of them had reached #1 at least once, having a total of 39 number ones between them.

Recording[edit | edit source]

The album features a mixture of cover singles, original tracks and remixes. All tracks were recorded/produced within the later half of March. It is known that the last track to be completed was a remix for Izzy, which was done on March 29. The majority of the tracks were recorded in London.
